More than 100 representatives from East Coast colleges and universities were on hand to speak with Bayport-Blue Point High School students about educational opportunities and programs during the school’s annual college fair, held on Nov. 1. The event was an opportunity for juniors and seniors to take a step in becoming future ready after graduating from high school.

Director of Guidance Ronald Bard explained that the college fair was one of two offered annually. Guidance counselors have already pushed into senior classrooms to speak with their assigned students about post-secondary planning and an overview of the application process. Seniors are currently meeting with their counselors individually. Additionally, the school district will hold Freshman/Sophomore Night and Junior Planning Night, so that the students can learn how to prepare for college later.

“We want to jumpstart the students into thinking about the college application process and their plans after high school,” Mr. Bard said.
