Bayport-Blue Point High School incoming freshmen were welcomed by administration, faculty and staff during the school’s annual Freshman Orientation Day, held on August 25. Principal Robert Haas welcomed the students and told them it is ok to be nervous about their start in high school, but those feelings will change once they become involved in classes, activities and clubs.

Make every day count, starting right now,” Mr. Haas told the students.

Nationally recognized speaker Rohan Murphy, who lost his legs at birth, also addressed the students about his life experiences and encouraged them not to take the next four years for granted. “All of you have the choice to be average, good or great,” Mr. Murphy said.

BBP Connect members, student leaders formerly known as Peers to Peers, then took the freshmen on a tour of the building and to the cafeteria for lunch. The program commenced with the freshmen picking up their Chromebooks and finding their lockers, preparing them for the first day of school on Aug. 31.
