Prior to the weekend’s homecoming festivities, former district athletes and their families and friends collected on Bob Sullivan Field to celebrate the announcement of the annual 2021 Hall of Fame, held on Oct. 16. This 14-year tradition allows the district to spotlight talent and its highest caliber of athletes, as well as those athletes who have made an impact to the athletic program. This year’s inductees include George Brush (Class of 1991), Glenn Donatelli (Class of 2007) and the 2011 boys varsity lacrosse team.

“This year’s inductees will go down in the annals of time as some of the best athletes and contributors ever to grace the fields or other athletic venues of this high school,” Director of Physical Education, Health and Interscholastic Sports Timothy Mullins said. “I am confident that the many homecoming attendees will gain an even greater sense of pride and appreciation, not only for our athletic program, but for the school district and community.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Timothy Hearney explained that sports play an important part in their lives, because it teaches about hard work, determination and teamwork. “Sports creates a bond with fellow athletes because the goal is to be your best.”

Each of the athletes received a plaque, which will be hung in the high school’s Hall of Fame. The athletes were also recognized during the homecoming game’s halftime celebration.
